Dingelstädt Autumn Run 2021

Dingelstädt: A Must-Attend Event for Running Enthusiasts!

For several years now, Dingelstädt has secured a permanent spot in the calendar of all running enthusiasts! The Lauffreunde Eichsfeld host the VR Bank Mitte Autumn Run on the scenic Kanonenbahn cycle path.

What makes this course special is its exceptionally flat profile. The half marathon requires overcoming only 60 meters of elevation gain in total—ideal for achieving personal bests. Such conditions are quite rare in Central Germany. Another highlight is the former railway tunnel, stretching 1,530 meters. Runners in the half marathon, designed as an out-and-back course, pass through it twice—offering over 3 km of a unique tunnel-running experience.

This event attracts a large number of athletes every year, thanks to the combination of a fantastic, flat, and fast course, beautiful scenery, the tunnel experience, and a welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere. This year, 267 participants took part, with start places again limited due to COVID-19 restrictions, as in 2020. With race distances of 1 km, 3 km, 5 km, and 10 km, the Dingelstädt Autumn Run offers something for every fitness level. For the youngest participants, there is even a 400 m Bambini race.

In addition to the races for recreational runners, this year's event also hosted the Thuringian State Half Marathon Championship—a great success for the organizers and a testament to their excellent work over the past years.

A new course record was also set on Saturday. The new best time for the 5 km race (men's category) now stands at 15 minutes and 17 seconds—an incredible achievement! Let’s see how long this record lasts.
